Jennie A Monroe, 91, passed away unexpectedly on May 29th. She was born on December 25, 1931, in Torrington, CT. Jennie had a remarkable life filled with dedication, achievements, and a passion for nursing.
Jennie attended St. Francis School and graduated from Torrington High School. She pursued her passion for nursing and received her nursing degree from St. Francis School of Nursing. Jennie began her nursing career at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital then onto St. Francis Hospital before making her way to Boston, MA. In Boston, she served as the supervisor of nurses in the Operating Rooms at Mass General Hospital, where she dedicated 30 years of her life.
Jennie's commitment to nursing was unwavering, and she touched the lives of countless patients throughout her career. Her compassion, expertise, and leadership left a lasting impact on the medical community.
She was pre-deceased by her mother, Elsie Grabowski Monroe, her father, Joseph Monroe, her sister, Elizabeth Monroe, and her brother, Joseph Monroe. Jennie is survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Skutt Monroe of Torrington.
Jennie will be dearly missed by her beloved nephews, Joseph, Gerard, James, John, and Jeffery Monroe, as well as her niece, Barbara Brazeau, along with many great & great -great nieces & nephews. She was a source of inspiration and guidance to her family, and her memory will be cherished.
The family will receive friends & relatives on Tuesday, June 6th, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Phalen Funeral Home. A Mass will immediately follow at St. Francis Church in Torrington, where Jennie's life will be celebrated. She will be laid to rest at Saint Francis Cemetery.
Jennie's legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the memories she created.
