Jean E (Starkweather) Cass

Jean (Starkweather) Cass, 86, of Torrington passed away peacefully on December 18, 2022.  Born in Boston, MA, December 7, 1936, Jean was the former wife of  the late Frederick P. Cass.
After raising her family in Torrington, Jean resided for many years in Goffstown NH.  It was here where Jean discovered her passion fro volunteer work.  Jean was active in many charitable organizations;  being an avid reader,  closest to her heart was assisting young children in the Manchester NH Public School System with learning to read. With her tight group of self- named "Crafty Ladies", Jean formed true lifelong friendships while organizing Holiday, Birthday, and Retirement parties.  Always researching new and exciting projects,  Jean and her ladies created joy and happiness in their community at every opportunity.  She returned to Torrington in September 2021.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Grace Starkweather,  three sisters and a brother.
She is survived by a son, Jeffrey P. Cass, a daughter Jennifer (Cass) Reynolds and husband Michael, and one grandson,  the absolute light of her life, Zachary J. Reynolds,  all of Torrington.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the Staff at Cottage of Litchfield Hills and to Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their care and compassion.
