Jazmine Ariel Baehr was born on June 16, 1995 in Torrington, CT. She passed away July 15, 2024 at the age of 29 at her home in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Throughout her childhood, she was a dancer, cheerleader, soccer, and track athlete. While attending Housatonic High School's agriculture program, Jazmine took an interest in raising rabbits. At one point, she had over 100 rabbits at their little farm in East Canaan.
Jazmine went to American International College in Springfield, MA, for both undergrad and grad school. She played on the rugby team and later coached. In 2018, she received her BA in Sociology with minors in Marketing and Political Science. She worked for many years with the Behavioral Health Network, working with youth in the city as well as many projects to promote positivity surrounding the LGBTQ community. In 2022, she completed her Masters degree in Business Administration while working full time. She then became a project manager for MassMutual in Springfield, MA. Some of Jazmine’s more recent interests included publishing a book of her poetry in 2022 called Reminds Me of Sunshine, competitive weight lifting at BuildEmUp Fitness, and painting. She also ran a small business making artisanal marshmallows called Marsh My Mallow.
Jazmine loved life. She traveled the world. Her first big international trip was the birthright trip to Israel. She spent summers abroad in Germany and Italy during college, then backpacking around after completion through places like Prague, Berlin, Portugal, France, England, and so many more. She cherished her religion and loved being able to share it with her younger brother, Jared. They would make traditional holiday treats over facetime as well as do the prayers during Hanukkah as they lit their menorahs together. Anyone who knew Jazmine knows that the loves of her life were her rabbits, Gomez and Sticky. She was looking for a companion and she chose to get rabbits from the family farm.
She is survived by her father, Wayne Riley and wife Rebecca of New Hartford, CT, mother Wendi Baehr of Fairfield, TX, younger siblings Cheyenne Reynolds and husband Trevor Bradley of North Carolina, Jared Riley of New Hartford, CT, grandparents Harvey and Martha Ginsberg of Boynton Beach, FL, aunts and uncles Heather Riley, Josh Ginsberg, Josh Goldfarb, Seth Goldfarb, Jill Goldfarb, Waneta Ellis, and Bill and Diane Ginsberg, niece Calliope Bradley, and as well as numerous cousins. She is predeceased by her grandmother, Sandra Ginsberg, and her beloved rabbit Penelope.
