James A.Ohotnicky, 79, of Dade City Florida and Torrington Connecticut passed away peacefully at home on September 21, 2025 after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Torrington, he was the son of Emily and Stephen Ohotnicky. He was a graduate of Torrington High School, St. Vincent College, Latrobe PA., and received a Masters in Business from the University of Hartford. His business and sales career started at Winchester electronics and also Merit Integrated Products.
He served in the US Army during the Viet Nam war and was a member of Torrington Country Club, and Lake Jovita Golf and CC. Dade City Fl.
Jim had a life long passion for the game of golf, starting as a caddie in the 1960's at Torrington country Club. At St. Vincent, he played on the golf team, with an opportunity to home swing with Deacon Palmer, Head Professional at Latrobe and worked with the team. Jim often traveled for business to the West Coast, at that time deals were made on the links. But most important were the friendships he created in his career, his community, and on the first tee. He loved Italian and Polish cuisine, the music of Andrea Bocelli, movies and fishing with the grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Dayna(Corrado) Ohotnicky, three children, Jill Ann Ohotnicky, Charlotte NC, Alan Seabourne (Meysi) Avon, CT, and Lauren Seabourne, Smyrna GA, three grandchildren, Mackenzie Knavenshue (Cody) of Charlotte NC, Michael and Savannah Seabourne of Avon CT, his brother Stephen Ohotnicky (Barbara) of Granger IN, sisters in law Lynn Osber, Hamden, Anita Jacobellis (Ben) Roxbury, nephews Col. Peter Ohotnicky Ret. (Sherry deceased) South Bend IN and Ben Jacobellis (Kelsey) Massachusetts, and nieces Susan Riley (Dave) Granger IN, Lindsey Jacobellis (Jan) California, and several grandnieces and nephews. He also leaves an aunt, Babe Ohotnicky of Winsted, and was predeceased by cousins Richard, Roberta, and Michael Ohotnicky. Remembering fond memories of childhood are cousins Jimmy Nardine, Linda Gressler, and Pamela Weld.
The family would like to thank Hartford Health /CHH staff for their exceptional care: Smilow Yale Cancer Center, Torrington for their expertise and guidance, and especially the dedication, care, and support from Hospice Care Team from visiting Nurse and Hospice of Litchfield County.
Services will be held Thursday October 2, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Peter's Church 107 East Main St Torrington CT.
