James J Irving

James Irving, 76, of Torrington passed August 30, 2025 at Sharon Hospital. Born in Torrington August 26 1949, son of the late Arthur and Marie Cellini Irving, he was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Tech and later served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam era. He retired as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Waterbury. He enjoyed spending time with his children, classic cars, and Elvis Presley.

He is survived by his wife Dawn of Winsted and children James G. Irving and wife Holly of Torrington, Christopher Irving of Clover SC, John Irving and wife Caitlyn of Winsted, Michael Irving of Ansonia, , Nicholas and Arthur Irving, both of Winsted, stepdaughters Seana Hunter of Waterbury and Kimberly Ramirez of Naugatuck, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  He also leaves sisters Janet Altieri of Norfolk, Carole Miller and Anita Decker of Torrington, and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Kevin Irving.

Funeral Services are Friday Sept. 5 at 11 AM at St Peter Church. Burial will follow at Old St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 PM at Phalen Funeral Home.  www.phalenfuneral.com
