James A Bernard, 81, of Goshen, CT passed away Tuesday, September 21st, at his home. He was the husband of Diana York Bernard.
James was born in Torrington, CT on June 30, 1940, a son of the late Clare (Petrick) and Roger Bernard. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After attending Banking College, he was employed by CBT bank for many years, and also worked for Allied Grocers and Summit Bank. He was a picture framer for over 30 years, working out of his home. He served on the Board of Goshen Community Care and Hospice for many years, and was an active member of Saint Thomas Church. He served as Treasurer for the Town of Goshen until recently and was a member of Torrington Elks Lodge and Torrington Country Club.
In addition to his wife, he leaves sons James C. Bernard and wife Michelle of Denver, Peter C. Bernard and wife Elizabeth of Kent, and daughter Heather Hower and husband Kirk of Eagle CO., grandchildren Ian and Aaron Curtis, Kira and Kylie Hower, and Edith and Howard Bernard. Also surviving is his brother Roger Bernard of Oregon.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Sept. 25 at 11 AM at Saint Thomas Church in Goshen. Burial will follow at Saint Thomas Cemetery.
