Jacqueline Killiany, 91 passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 4, 2021, and is now reunited with her high school sweetheart and partner of 57 years the late Joseph T. Killiany. Jackie, as she was known by everyone, was born in Hartford on August 21,1929 Along with her sister and brother, Jackie was raised by the Begey/Ruwet family of Torrington, and enjoyed many events and adventures on the farm. Jackie was a graduate of St. Francis School and Torrington High School class of 1949.
Before retirement, Jackie was a department manager of Sears & Roebuck Co. starting here in Torrington and retiring from the company in Waterbury. She enjoyed selling and was a people person, so she worked part-time for the Dress Barn till she was 84. She worked as a voting proctor for the City of Torrington for many years.
Jackie loved raising her family and her home was always open to her many close and extensive list of friends. She enjoyed vacations with her husband in Florida visiting the Zeller and the Russo families, trips to Gloucester to visit Ginger, taking the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard for fun in the sun with her daughter’s family and to the beach in Misquamicut with many friends and family. The holidays were all very special to her. She loved to decorate her home and host. She loved to dress up with her friends and family from Halloween thru Valentine’s Day. Sun and water were her enjoyment whether it was the pool, lake or beach. She loved to sew and paint rooms of the house, when everyone was sleeping. She also was a hairdresser to all of her three daughters and a few others. One of her favorites was going out to eat with her friends, breakfast, lunch or dinner. She enjoyed all of the children and grandchildren’s activities including dance, swimming and sports, etc.
Jacqueline was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, her sister, Shirley Bastianello and her husband, Richard and their sons, Richard and David, her brother, Raymond Murtha of Florida. Her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Donald Mougenot, her grandaughter, Jillian Marino of Charleston, SC.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters Maureen Marino (Bill) of Harwinton, Leslie Smith (Hank) of Edgartown,MA., Cheryl Separy of Torrington, four grandchildren, Anthony Marino (Lindsay) of North Chelmsford,MA., Kevin Separy (Allison) of New Hartford, Leslie Separy (Ben Veilleux) of Torrington, Henry Smith of Edgartown,MA. Two great-grandchildren, Addison and Brayden Marino, a special niece, Diane Bastianello (Joseph Lucia) and their children Joseph and Gina Lucia of Torrington.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Brandywine Living of Litchfield for the compassion ,care ,and well-being of Jackie over the years.
A Mass will be held on Monday, March 15th at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main Street, Torrington. There are no calling hours. The family requests that all follow Covid-19 guidelines at the church and cemetery. Burial to follow at the New St. Francis Cemetery, S. Main St., Torrington.
