Helene Berlinski, 94, passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2026.
Born on April 22, 1931, in Regen, Germany, Helene lived a rich life in Torrington, Connecticut, filled with love, laughter, and community. She immigrated to the United States in 1961 with her daughter, Anita Berlinski. Helene worked for both the Torrington Company and the New Brunswick Company for many years.
Known for her big heart, Helene made a lasting impact in Torrington through her grace, humility, generosity, and humor. Friends fondly remember her hearty laugh, impeccable sense of style, and her gift for bringing people together. She remained independent and sharp, with a genuine curiosity about the world and a love for meaningful conversation. Helene embraced life fully—from peaceful moments at Kent Falls to the thrill of a fast Ferrari ride.
Helene was preceded in death by her former husband, Wayne Berlinski; her brother, Michael Egner; her sister, Agnes Laborio; and her brother, Savel Egner.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita Berlinski; her grandson, Justin Lorenz, and his wife; and her niece, Angie Egner, her husband Christian, and their son, Emmanuel.
An intimate burial service was held Jan. 10 at New Saint Francis Cemetery, attended by close friends and family. Helene was laid to rest alongside Wayne and with her beloved cat, Bootsie. She is welcomed home by the Lord and reunited with those she loved.
