Gretchen (Muller) Ross

On Sunday, November 20,2022, Gretchen M. Ross was reunited with her loving husband Howard "Billy" Ross, who passed in 2018. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma, daughter and sister. She was 81 years old.
Gretchen was born July 24, 1941 in Torrington, CT. She was the only daughter of Ludwig and Sarah (von Tobel) Muller. She attended Torrington schools and graduated from THS in 1959. She retired from the State of Connecticut as a purchasing agent after 25 years of devoted service. 
Bill and Gretchen loved to travel and visited Hawaii, Ireland and the Pacific Northwest, to name a few. Mom loved to knit and crochet, making prayer shawls and cancer caps for sick and elderly people. She was always there for people in need. Ceramics, scrapbooking and reading were favorite pastimes as well.
Gretchen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church since she as a little girl. She loved singing in the church choir. Gretchen also sang with the Torrington High School chorus as a soloist. Her voice was beautiful.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robin (Richard) Rylander, Valerie Bennett and Patrick (Sandi) Longhi, her stepdaughter Diane Addison and step daughter-in-law Pat Ross. Gretchen was "Mema" to 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousin and her "Besties" from childhood. Finally, her beloved cat, Bailey, is still looking for her.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her loving son, Robert "Bob" Longhi who passed in 2021, and her stepson Bill Ross. 
Services will be held at Phalen Funeral Home on Tuesday November 29, 2022 at 9am for family and friends. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery after a Memorial Service at the Chapel.
