Glenn Green Obituary

Glenn R. Green, Jr. 69, passed away Monday, July 20, 2020 at Hartford Hospital.  Born on April 14, 1951, in Portsmouth VA, Glenn was the son of the late Glenn R. Green, Sr. and Vada Mildred Vincent, he served his country with two active tours of duty in the United States Army during the Vietnam era with the 4th Infantry Division.

On March 18,1972 he married his wife Sheila A. (Maiurano) Green in Norwich, NY.  He was married to her for 48-years before his passing.

Glenn went on as a civilian and worked at Morton Norwich Pharmaceutical Company as an Animal Care Taker. Then obtained Federal Employment where he was employed at Fort Myer, VA. and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Bethesda, MD as a Maintenance Mechanic. He then was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal in Troy, NY as an Environmental Protection Specialist until his retirement in 2006.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his family. And you were in for a lengthy debate if you dared to open the conversation to politics let alone dared to eat the Pringle’s. He enjoyed Washin-Ryu Karate, Coaching T-Ball, Video taping school football games, and attending School Basketball games. He loved camping with his family, especially when the grandchildren were with him.  He was famous with his grandkids and would make them laugh when he would sing “Who let the dogs out” and “ Put the lime in the coconut”. And let us not exclude his one and only Chocolate Lab “Max” who knew how to get peanut butter put in his Kong-he actually would pick the kong up an fling it into his lap got his attention. It worked every time.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila of Goshen, CT., his two children: John (Tara) of Torrington, CT., Tania (Christopher) Woodward of Greenwich, NY., Jose (Ana Mejia) Gonzalez along with his two children: Isabelle and Zoey (who all became honorary members of the family). His brother William Green of Chesapeake, VA.  He also leaves behind (7) Grandchildren: Lex and Logan Green of Torrington, CT., Ian Harsha, Ariel, Jasmine, Bella, and Kellan Woodward all of Greenwich, NY. also, brother and sisters-in-laws: John (Karen) Maiurano of Gainesville, VA, Clark (Susan) Maiurano of Ocala, FL, Deborah (Kevin) Hardwick of Tonawanda, NY., and Teresa (Timothy) Woodard of Norwich, NY., as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday July 25 at 10 AM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington CT.
