Gertrude K (Picz) Nicholas

 Gertrude K. Nicholas, 93, of  Torrington, CT, passed away  Sunday, October 4th, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  She was the wife of the late William C. Nicholas.

Gertrude was born in Torrington, CT on August 21, 1927,  daughter of the late Katherine (Gura) and Peter  Picz.
She worked as a baker all of her life.  She owned Gert's Bake Shop in Torrington  and was manager of The Bake Shop for many years.  She loved to travel, playing bingo, the Casinos, and having her hair done weekly.  She was a resident of Litchfield Woods where she was loved and loved to be a part of their social life,  and will be missed.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Mackiewicz of Hermon NY and grandchildren Stacy Mackiewicz, and  Tc Patrick Mackiewicz and his wife Sara,  Meagan and husband Timothy White,  and Christopher  and wife Heather Nicholas,  daughter in law Nancy Nicholas, and a sister Marian Dubiel, and many  great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  She was predeceased by her sons William and Robert Nicholas, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
