Geraldine (Geri) Louise Mastrocola passed peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 at Noble Horizons, Salisbury, CT. Born in Torrington on December 26, 1929, to Alfonso & Josephine Pastore, and married to John Mastrocola. Geri is survived by son Robert Mastrocola of New Hartford, and predeceased by husband John Mastrocola, sons Richard Mastrocola and Toby Mastrocola, and brother, Fred Pastore and sister, Marie Vedovelli. She is survived by her sister Florence (Flo) Vedovelli and it is with gratitude that she was able to attend her sister’s 100th birthday in the spring with family. She is survived by nine grandchildren, Adam, Seth, Zachary, Rhiannon, Bethaney, Naison, Garren, Deanne, Jocelyn and numerous beloved great grandchildren. Her face lit up with a smile for all those that visited and expressions of love were always shared.
Geri grew up in Torrington where she married and raised her three sons. She was an avid gardener, cook and baker and loved listening to the old Italian classics of Frank Sinatra and others. Her Catholic faith was especially important to her throughout her life. When she could not drive in later years, she could be found following mass on local television stations to maintain her lifelong commitment to Christian faith. She especially enjoyed making all her grandchildren their favorite pies and Christmas cookies at the holidays and for special occasions. Family, friends and her faith were the cornerstones of her life.
The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care of grandson Zachary Mastrocola’s wife, Danielle Mastrocola, who was instrumental in helping secure a happy, loving and safe home for Geri after a fall last December. In her last months, she shared many smiles and laughs with new friends at luncheons and mass on the premises in beautiful Salisbury at Noble Horizons. The staff was especially caring and attentive in making Geri’s last days comfortable. A memorial mass will take place honoring Geri’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Peter Church, Torrington, CT.
