Gerald R Ducatelli

Gerald (Jerry, “Duke”) Rocco Ducatelli, Sr. of Winsted, Connecticut passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, at the age of 76. After several months of declining health, Jerry died peacefully. Jerry was born in Torrington, CT on July 21, 1946, to father Rocco Ducatelli and mother Francis (Gardella) Ducatelli. He grew up and lived the majority of his life in Torrington, where he enjoyed many friendships. After graduating from Torrington High School and then Barbering school he joined the Navy where he served from 1966 - 1970 active duty on the USS Boston. This was followed by two years of naval reserve duty before his discharge in 1972. After his naval service, his work ethic and desire to take care of his family led to him attending and graduating from the police academy in 1973.  During his 25-year career in the Torrington Police department “Duke” rose to the rank of Sargent while serving the community he truly cared about and making life-long friendships along the way before retiring in 1999. In between those years he lived a happily married life with his wife Patricia, raising their family until her passing in 1996. Eventually, he started a new chapter of his life with his wife Kathy with whom he enjoyed his retirement until her passing in 2021.  He enjoyed volunteering, fishing, camping with friends, watching the Red Sox and reading detective and spy novels. Jerry was preceded in death by his former wife Bette (Wilmot) Ducatelli, wife Patricia (Menard) Ducatelli and wife Kathleen (Fallon) Ducatelli, also by his parents, sisters Linda Krukar and Judy Knudson and his brother Dennis Ducatelli as well as his daughter Denise Decker. He is survived by several children/step-children including Jay and Beth Ducatelli, Carl and Debbie Stolfi, Deborah Bascetta, Tony Ducatelli, Ashley and Matt Hess, Darcy and Dan Melanson and Dana and Hank Lacharite, Chuck Bascetta, Ray Decker as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
