Gary M Newman

Gary M. Newman, 52, of Torrington, CT passed away Friday, April 18th at home.
Gary was born in Winsted, CT, on December 21, 1961. He was the son of the late Mary (Mangione) and Ralph Newman.
He was the owner/operator of Johnny's Sweeping Service in Torrington for the past 15 years, working side by side with his son and best friend, Nickolas. He spent several years as a paramedic, for Campion Ambulance and Bristol Hospital. Gary also worked for several local construction companies over the years. Each year Gary had a special date with his #1 girl, his daughter Shannyn, when they dressed up and danced the night away at the father/daughter dance. He was always there to lend a hand for any cause, participating in many community events. He took great pride in his home and yard, he could always be found planting flowers, laying a brick patio, or constructing a goldfish pond. His annual Christmas light display was enjoyed by many and earned him 2nd place in the town's 2013 judging.
Besides his children, Gary leaves his devoted wife and caregiver, Donna Lamanna Newman, his brother Todd, and friend and mother of his children, Tracie D'Angelo. Gary will be greatly missed by his constant, furry companions, Bailey and Harley.
Funeral Services will be held at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington, CT, at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 22nd, with Rev James DiQuattro officiating. Burial will follow at St Peter Cemetery.
