G. Richard Tuxbury

George Richard Tuxbury, 86, of Torrington, CT passed away Monday, August 15th, at West Haven VA. He was the husband of Murielle (St. Amand) Tuxbury. Richard was born in Burlington, Vermont on June 23, 1936, a son of the late Anna E. (L'Esperance)  and George E. Tuxbury. Richard was a track and field athlete in Burlington VT in his youth. He served in the US Navy on the USS Cassin Young. He operated a general store in New Hampshire and a model car raceway in Vermont before moving to Torrington. There he worked as a Shoe Department Manager at WW Mertz Co. Richard graduated from the University of Hartford as an electronic technician; then worked for Scan Optics in East Hartford. He completed his career at The Torrington Co  in the Research and Development Division.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Donna Fisher and husband Doug, sons: Stephen and wife Lila, Mike and wife Lee, and Bryan and wife Lisa, 15 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.  He also leaves a sister Helena Tuxbury and brothers: Jim and wife Ann, Larry, and Bill and wife Debbie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM on Friday, August 19th at Saint Francis Church in Torrington.  Burial will follow at Saint Peter Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 18th at Phalen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Kidney Foundation.
