Frederick S George

Frederick S. George, age 92, entered the gates of heaven on October 3rd surrounded by his family.

Fred was a beloved Husband, Dad, Grampa, Papa, Great Grandfather and Uncle. He was a lifelong resident of Torrington where he, along with his late wife Joan, raised their family. 

Fred was a man of many hats. He served in the Army Reserves and even ran for the Mayor of Torrington. Fred volunteered at the Soup Kitchen and ushered at St Paul's Church. But he was also an entrepreneur through and through. He and Joan opened Merit Quality Swimming Pools in the 60's, and went on to open the first head shop in Torrington, Heads Beds and Threads. From package stores, gas stations, bars, restaurants and more, Fred taught his family the values of honesty, hard work and most importantly love.

His passion was watching Giants football, Price is Right, Westerns and listening to the Beatles. He loved his Harley-Davidson's, Corvettes, Camels, Clocks, Lebanese food and most of all his Family.

Fred was like a second Dad to his nieces, nephews, extended family and all his daughters friends. He and Joan welcomed all to swim, picnic, enjoy a meal, a joke or two and always had an open heart for everyone.

His rambunctious spirit, kindness, generosity and hugs with be greatly missed.

He was preceded by his parents, four brothers, a sister, and the love of his life, Joannie.

He is survived by his four daughters;

Cynthia Muhl and husband William, Charlene Donaghy and husband Gary, Constance D'Andrea and husband Andre, and Clarissa George. Three Grandchildren; Scott George, Alyssa (Muhl) Gregg and husband Thomas, William Muhl Jr. and wife Katurah. Four Great-grandchildren; Thomas Gregg, Liam Gregg, Aurorah Muhl and Atlas Muhl. And also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
