Frances Kay Breakell, 79, of Goshen, CT passed away March 4, 2023 at home, surrounded by her family. Known as Kay, she was born in Harlingen, Texas on June 23, 1943, a daughter of the
late Jay Wells and Virginia Dusek (Kaufmann). Her father Jay, a World War II pilot, died when Kay was less than a year old after being shot down while on a mission over Europe. Her mother
later married Mike Dusek. Kay was a graduate of Harlingen High School, and attended business college. She moved with her late husband, Frederic “Fred” Breakell to Goshen, CT, after meeting Fred on a blind date when he was an Air Force Airman stationed in Harlingen. Kay worked at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, the Goshen Central Store, White Flower Farm and for
many years owned and operated The Falls Village Coffee Shop. Kay loved being a part of her Tyler Lake neighborhood, driving her golf cart to the Marshepaug Beach Club to visit with neighbors, and spoiling her 5 grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching the birds from her deck overlooking Tyler Lake, and enriching her Goshen and Falls Village communities.
Kay is survived by her two sons, Donald and wife Sheila, Edward and wife Carrie, and grandchildren, Conor, Clare, Liam, Noah and Harrison. She also leaves a sister, Kateri Veillette (Dusek) and brother-in-law Thomas Breakell and his wife Constance, and sister-in-law Beth Skonieczny. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made at Goshen Community Care Hospice and Goshen Fire and Ambulance Service.
