Emma McMilleon Obituary

 Emma (Slaiby) McMilleon, 98, Torrington, CT, passed away on January 8 at Litchfield Woods in Torrington.  Emma was born in Morris, CT on March 10, 1922, a daughter of the late Samman and Mary F. (Ferris) Slaiby.  She attended grammar school in Bridgewater. The family moved to Torrington In 1936 ; she graduated from Torrington High Class in 1941.  After graduation she worked at the Torrington Company and attended The Torrington Business School in 1948.  From 1955 to 1973 she worked for Jason Theatrical Enterprises at the Palace and Warner Theaters in various positions starting at the concession stand and ultimately progressing to manager . She was very proud of the fact that many Torrington teenagers started their working lives under her tutorage at both theaters . Late in life, she was employed by The Connecticut Motor Club (AAA) , earned a Nurses Aid certificate at Torrington Extend-A- Care, and was finally employed as a home care worker until her retirement in 1998. She loved and was devoted to her extended family and will be missed dearly.  Emma loved to knit, do crossword puzzles, and was a voracious reader . Her avid reading took her around the world in an armchair, making her a virtual world traveler., She was a Communicant of Saint Maron Church.

She leaves nephews and their spouses : Albert and Carol Thebarge ; James and Susan Thebarge ; John and Robin Thebarge ; Ronald Thebarge and Elissa Jelalian ; Samuel and Alice-Jane Slaiby ; Michael Rossi, ;Robert and Gerri Rossi, ; Richard and MaryAnn Rossi; and Daniel and Linda Slaiby . She is also survived by nieces and spouses: Diane and Rick Goode ; Susan Bakunis,; Cynthia Keator;, Cherie Bettencourt ; Marie (Stephen-deceased) Hardiman ; Linda Slaiby;, and Sandra and Vincent Palladino ; and sister-in-laws Mary I. Slaiby and Jacalyn Slaiby.  She was predeceased by her brothers Mayer J. Slaiby and William L. Slaiby and sisters Lena Thebarge;, Eva LaCombe, Edna Rossi,; and nephew, Billy Slaiby; great-nephew Joshua Switser; and great niece Amanda Kaetor.
The family would like to thank the staff of Litchfield Woods and Torrington Health and Rehabilitation Center of Torrington for the care given to her through the last years of her life.
