Ellen D Donaghy

Ellen D. Donaghy, 93, passed away March 17th, 2025 at home in Harwinton surrounded by her loving family. Ellen was born in Machias, Maine on August 17th, 1931 to the late Chester Day and Grace Foss Day. She grew up in Machias and graduated valedictorian. She went on to work for the state of Maine until she married her true love Donald Donaghy and moved to Connecticut. Together they raised 8 children and 6 grandchildren. In addition she was the bookkeeper for D&D concrete for many years. Ellen is predeceased by her husband Donald Donaghy, oldest son Donald Steven Donaghy and brother Dennis Day. Ellen is survived by her children Michael Donaghy and wife Cindy, Suzanne Oslander, Craig Donaghy, Gary Donaghy and wife Charlene, Colleen Labrecque and husband Louie, Scott Donaghy and wife Yvonne and Randy Donaghy. In addition Ellen has 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Service will be held in the chapel at Hillside Cemetary 76 walnut Street, Torrington CT Saturday March 22, 2025. Friends and family are invited between 9 and 10am, service at 10am followed by burial. There will be a reception to follow.
