Douglas Rinhart Ruhm

Douglas Rinhart Ruhm, age 49, of Plainville, Connecticut passed away Monday October 25, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.
He was born on April 23, 1972 in Bristol,  Connecticut, and three months after his birth, he became the son of Judith Ruhm and the late David R. Ruhm of New Hartford.  He is also survived by his sister,  Cynthia Ruhm and his nephew Rylan Deane,  his aunt Julie MacGregor,  cousins Lisa (and Jason) Lang,  Andrea (Scott) Richardson,  his uncle Brian Dobbs in Maine and cousins Jason (Mariah) Dobbs in Wisconsin and Jennifer Dobbs in Florida.  Also surviving is his ex wife, Camille Connolly Ruhm and step-son Michael O'Connor.
Throughout the years he worked in restaurants, steel building work,  and machine shops.  He attended New Hartford Schools,  Winchester Christian Academy,  and graduated from Oliver Wolcott Technical School in Torrington.  He majored in auto shop and shared an appreciation for cars with his father.
The family wishes to express gratitude to all those providing wonderful care these last 2 weeks in the hospital's Critical Care Unit and his many times there.
Because of COVID protocol,  the private service will be filmed and available on the church's website   www.firstcong.com.  There will be calling hours on Friday November 12, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington, CT.  Memorial Contributions can be made in Doug's memory to Teen Challenge 86 Spring St New Haven CT 06519 to fulfill Doug's desire that others might avoid the damages of drugs and alcohol he experienced.     on line memorials www.phalenfuneral.com
