Donald Smith Jr Obituary

Donald A. Smith, Junior, 71, passed away peacefully on April 26,2023, in Torrington. He was born October 16,1951 in Charlotte Hungerford Hospital to Donald A Smith, Sr. and Doris (Copacino) Smith, and lived most of his life in Harwinton. Don graduated from Lewis S Mills High School in 1969 and Colgate University, Hamilton, NY 1973. He worked in the IT industry of Travelers, IBM and Aetna Insurance Companies over the years.

Don was predeceased by his wife Denise Everett. He is survived by his parents, sister Nancy Smith Hendrix, niece Allison Hendrix and husband David Page of Louisville, CO. And his aunt and several cousins. Also, he is survived by many loving friends.  He was a great blues guitar player and was part of two band, D Blues Band and Delusions of Grandeur. In addition, he was a very active member of the Bristol Swedish Social Club.  Gardening was a passion, and he planted a huge garden every year. He took pride in his plants grown from seeds.  Additionally, he created an orchard and planted trees annually. He loved sitting on his deck, with friends, watching the birds that visited his birdbath. and made sure to add plant to attract bees and butterflies. He was an avid sports fan, rooting for the NY Yankees and NY Giants. Don had a wicked sense of humor along with being very generous and kind. He will be sorely missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 15, 2023,  at Fairview Farms in Harwinton from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.
