In Loving Memory of Dona R. Spino
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dona R. Spino on September 2, 2025. A graduate of Torrington High School class of 1970 and lifelong resident of Torrington, whose warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit touched the lives of so many.
Dona was the beloved daughter of Rachel and Victor Rosati and sister to David Rosati. She married the love of her life, Nicholas Spino, on September 1, 1975, and together they built a beautiful life centered around family and community.
She is survived by her children, Nicklas Spino and his wife Molly, and Alena Hooson and her husband Mathew. Dona found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Owen, Emily, and Ryan, who brought light and laughter into her life.
A proud and hardworking woman, Dona owned and operated Chesty’s Tavern for 22 years — a local fixture where many gathered, not just for meals, but for a sense of home. After retirement, she found happiness working at Eastside Café and T-Place. For the last 10 years, she generously gave her time and heart to St. Maron Church, where she ran Monday Night Bingo and managed the Church’s Clothing Closet.
Dona's legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her strength, kindness, and giving nature will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of
knowing her.
In accordance with her wishes, memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Dona’s memory to the St. Maron Church
Endowment Fund (613 Main Street Torrington, CT 06790 ) May her memory live on in the memories we hold in our hearts, and may we carry forward the love and compassion she so freely shared.
