Denise M. Riccucci, 84, passed away, March 5, 2020 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital with her family by her side after a long battle of cancer. Denise was born in Montreal, Canada, March 21, 1935, daughter of Arthur and Rose Aimee (Goulet) Cote. She moved to the United States with her family around the age of 11 and settled with them in Torrington, CT. After high school she married and moved to San Diego, CA and Honolulu Hawaii before returning to Torrington to have her daughter. After her divorce, she worked at General Time in Thomaston and T & M Building Co. as a purchaser. When she was diagnosed with cancer in 1999, she remained dedicated in her work and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave and ironed-willed woman, even throughout her final months. In her leisure, she enjoyed watching hockey, especially the Boston Bruins, the Boston Red Sox and UCONN women’s basketball. She loved flowers, animals, and especially spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Rose Cote, and brother, Donald Cote Sr., all of Torrington. She is survived by her daughter, Lani (Riccucci) Celadon of New Hartford, her grandchildren, Desiree (Celadon) Pinto and husband Michael of Dartmouth, MA, Garrett Celadon and fiancée Allison Anderson of West Hartford, and Arielle Celadon and Andrew Bangert of Farmington, and her nephew Donald “D.J.” Cote, Jr. of Collinsville.
Calling hours will be Monday March 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Phalen Funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday March 10 at 11 AM at Lourdes Shrine 83 Montfort Rd Litchfield.
