David Stone Obituary

David Joseph Stone, age 85, passed away peacefully and entered the loving arms of his wife, Patti, who preceded him in passing by just two days. Their bond was deep, joyful, and enduring, and it brings comfort to know they are reunited once again.

David was born on August 1, 1940, in Bristol, Connecticut. He proudly served his country in the United States Army AGC and the Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970. During his service, he earned a Good Conduct Medal, an Expert Rifle Badge, and a National Defense Service Medal—honors that reflected his dedication, discipline, and commitment.

Following his military service, David spent many years working in the retail industry, ultimately retiring from Caldor as a Store Manager. His strong work ethic, leadership, and integrity left a lasting and positive impression on colleagues and customers alike.

Outside of his professional life, David was an avid fisherman who could talk for hours about his fishing adventures with his beloved brother, Jack. He also had a lifelong passion for automobiles, motorcycles, and boats. David appreciated the finer things in life and took great pride in every home he owned. His attention to detail and love for comfort and beauty reflected the care he put into the life he built.

Along with his wife, Patti, David was predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl.

He is survived by his brother Jack (Antoinette) Stone, a niece and two nephews, his son, David Stone II (Tammy); his granddaughter, Julia; his four stepdaughters, Sabrina (Chris) Janco, Daphne (Karl) Roberson, Peyton (Mark) Hilpert, and Dana Homko (Tim Haskell); six grandchildren, Shea Roberson (Tina), Madison Levins (Jim), Alee Roberson, Christian Janco (Peyton), Taylor Janco, and Mariah Hilpert; four great-grandchildren, Pierce Roberson, Kingslee Lyons, Jesse Janco, and Rori Levins; and his beloved dog, Dax.

David will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A private service will be held. The family respectfully extends their sincere gratitude to all who share kind thoughts, prayers, and well wishes during this difficult time. Donations may be made in David’s memory to the Harwinton Ambulance Association, 166 Burlington Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.
