David James Marsh, born November 16 th , 1960 in Hartford, Connecticut, passed away on November 14th after a courageous yearlong battle with esophageal cancer.
David grew up in Berlin, CT, and graduated from Berlin High School where he played football and basketball alongside many of his lifelong friends. After High School he started a lifelong career as a talented and dedicated carpenter. His skill and work ethic led him to establish his own company, Marsh Construction, specializing in siding, roofing, and windows. David took great pride in his craft and spent many years working alongside close friends and his two sons.
When not on the job, David could often be found fishing on the Farmington River, a pastime he cherished throughout his life, kicking back watching the Patriots, or golfing. Two years ago, he moved to Miami, Florida, to work alongside his son for his art business, SunArt. There, he discovered a new love for ocean fishing and spent many day on the water with his son hoping to bring in the daily catch.
David returned to Connecticut this spring to seek additional medical care, where he was supported closely by his ex-wife and friend, Carolyn Reeve, family, and friends.
He is survived by his two sons, David Marsh Jr. of Miami, FL, and Randall Stelma of Torrington, CT; his beloved grandchildren Kyla, Kora, Kaleb, Kady, Kayse, and Kaira; his sisters, Debhra Bynum of Sacramento, CA, and Janice Marsh of Immokalee, FL; and his nephew, Andrew Grabowski of Immokalee, FL. He was predeceased by his parents, James Marsh and Margaret Bachard.
Funeral Services wiil be held Friday Nov. 21, 11 AM at Our Lady of Hope Parish Immaculate Heart Church Harwinton. Burial will follow at Burlington Center Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 at Phalen Funeral Home. www.phalenfuneral.com
