Darlene G. (Gath) Stannard

Darlene G. Stannard, 73, of Torrington passed away Aug. 16, 2023 at home.  She was the wife of Lucian Stannard.  Born in Torrington Feb. 16, 1950, she was the daughter of Harry and Marion Milano Gath.  She attended Torrington High, Northeastern University and Central Connecticut State College.  She was an Elementary School Teacher in Torrington, having taught at all the Grammer Schools in Torrington.  Teaching was her soul passion.  She loved passing down her knowledge to students and the younger generation of teachers.   Darlene also loved her beautiful flower gardens that she would plant and tend to each year.  Along with horseback riding she loved her late dog Jenna that she would take for daily walks. She also loved to cook and was a great pie maker. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son Michael and wife Heather, and grandsons Lucas and Mason.  She was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey.
Funeral Services will be held at a later date at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Torrington.  Burial Services will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Tuesday August 22 at 11 AM. Memorial Contributions can be made to The Little Guild of St. Francis or Alzheimer's Foundation.  www.phalenfuneral.com
