Cynthia Maretta (Driffin) Collins

Cynthia Maretta Collins (Driffin) was born on October 24, 1956 to Margaret Driffin (Whitfield) and the late Richard DJr in New Haven, CT. Cynthia spent the majority of her childhood in New Haven before she moved to Torrington in 1983. To family and friends she was known as Cynt or Cindy, but to her dear husband, she was lovingly "CHIEF".

Cynthia enjoyed photography, reading, knitting, crochet, and just spending time and creating memories with her family. She loved to travel with her husband to Lake George and New York City, Canada, and South Carolina, and loved to host Thanksgiving dinner, having family all around her. She also had a passion for fashion and loved to shop.

As a child, she attended West Hills Elementary School, Sheridan  Junior High, and Hill House High. After graduating, she went on to New Haven Superior Court as a para legal and helped many of her family and friends. She received help from  her uncle, Attorney Nathaniel "Sunny" Whitfield, and worked as an executive presser at Globe Cleaners for over 15 years.

She gave birth to her loving daughter Makzdia "Dee Dee" Driffin on March 8, 1975and later married the love of her life, William "Bill" Collins April 27, 1984. They happily shared 42 years of marriage.

Her warm hugs and bright smile were the highlights of her personality and lit up the room the second she entered,  everyone knew they were in for a great time.

She is predeceased by her father Richard Driffin Jr., maternal grandparents Joseph and Gussie, and Belinda "Gega" Whitfield and paternal grandparents Richard "Mr. Dyck" Driffin Sr and Alice Driffin and twin brothers Julius and Jeff.  She leaves behind her daughter Makzdia "Dee Dee" Hoxie (Mark) and grandsons Michael and Matthew Hoxie, her mother Margaret Driffin,, brother Richard "Ray" Driffin III (Martha) and sisters Julie Harding (Angelo), and Alvenia "Beanie" Driffin. She also leaves nieces, Tanika Demps, Maiya Driffin, Tanasia Young and nephews Angelo "Booma" Harding III (Lorenza) and Malcolm Driffin and great niece Rayani, great nephews Rashaad, Maison, Karter, Hendrix, Mose and Monahir, along with a host of family and friends.
