Christopher Pond Obituary

Monticello, Fla.

Christopher M. Pond, formerly of Torrington,  passed away at home on October 18, 2021 at the age of 69. He is survived by his loving wife of sixteen years Christie Pond, who was with him through thick and thin. Chris is also survived by his older brother Biff, who he adored, and his sister in law Holly. He was predeceased by his parents George K. Pond and Anne (Pond) Buckley. He also leaves behind many beloved cousins and a ton of close friends.

Affectionately known in Litchfield County as "Valve Man", Chris was born and raised in Torrington and attended local schools. After graduating from The University of Hartford, Chris was a guidance counselor before switching gears to become an outstanding therapist for emotionally and behaviorally disturbed youth at The Kolburne School in Massachusetts, and then in Jacksonville Florida. He became one of the most sought after therapists after those before him couldn't handle, but Chris had a caring feel for all.

As he got older he played a lot of slow-pitch softball, and was extremely proud of winning the MVP trophy in 1985 for The Village Wine Cellar in the Litchfield 8 team league playoffs. "Valve" loved UConn men's basketball, especially after they won the title in 1999 over Duke. He also loved the Dodgers and Yale football.

Once you made friends with Chris, you had a friend for life. Loyalty was part of his DNA.
