Chester Pepin Jr Obituary

Chester L. "Bud" Pepin, 77, of Torrington passed away June 2, 2023, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  He was the husband of 55 years of Brenda Reed.  Born in Hartford Feb. 16, 1946, son of the late Chester and Agnes Hogan Pepin, he was a graduate of Lewis Mills and The University of Connecticut and served in The National Guard.  While at UCONN, he played 3rd base for the baseball team from 1966-68 and played for the Cape Cod League and was a member of the Lower Cape Allstar Team.  Hired by Region District #10, teaching Science at Har-Bur Middle School.  He coached J.V. Basketball from1970-1976 and became Head Coach in 1977.  He was Chief Negotiator for the Region School District #10 Association for several years and he retired in 2005.  As a coach, he never received a technical foul and his philosophy for coaching was to remain under control, to teach his player how to control their emotions during competition and life. Bud loved the Torrington Country Club and was Club Historian.  he served on the Board of Directors from 2001-2004 and was Golf Chairman and Club chairman in 2005 and 2006 and was involved in the Connecticut State Golf Assoc. and helped coordinate 2 State Championship Opens and 1 State amateur Championship, helping TCC and CSGA elevate their status around the State.

In addition to his wife Brenda,, he leaves a son David Pepin and daughter Amy Herbert and granddaughters Mica and Liv Pepin, a sister Kathleen MacEachern and husband George, and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two sisters and 2 nephews.

A memorial will be held at Torrington Country Club in the future.
