Charles S Woodward

 Charles S Woodward, 78, of  Goshen, CT passed away Wednesday, September 22nd, at Geer Nursing and Rehab Center in Canaan.  He was the husband of Lucyna Mandziuch.  Charles was born in Waterbury, CT on June 2, 1943, a son of the late Edith M (Spencer)  and Lawrence  Woodward, Sr  

An athlete in his youth,  he was "best in his battalion" at Camp Lejeune  Marine Corp Base Camp In NC.  He worked as a carpenter for the Union Local.
He was a past member of Woodbury,  Middlebury,  and Goshen Volunteer Fire Departments.
In addition to wife Lucy,  he leaves a daughter,  Heidi Roberts and her children Brandon and Dillon.  He also leaves his siblings,  Nancy Battis, Lawrence Woodward Jr.,  Thomas Woodward and wife Linda,  Margaret Watson and husband Tom,  Shirley McAllister,  and Carol Barton,  as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his wife Alice Hiltz Woodward in 2007.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday Sept 28 at 12:30 at West Goshen Cemetery,  Milton Rd in Goshen.  Friends may call prior to the service 10-12 at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington.  Memorial Contributions can be made to The Goshen Volunteer Fire Company PO Box 193 Goshen CT 06756.  www.phalenfuneral.com
