Charles Trainor Obituary

Charles Peter Trainor November 27, 1938 – July 5, 2025
Charles (Charlie) Peter Trainor, 86, of Harwinton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025. Raised in Somerset, MA, he spent 33 years as a resident of New Fairfield, CT. He lived by the enduring values of hard work, loyalty, and patriotism.
Charlie proudly served his country as a First Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961, stationed aboard the USS Ranger. After his military service, he built a lasting career at Otis Elevator, where his dedication and craftsmanship left an enduring mark.
A man of many talents and passions, Charlie was an avid scuba diver who found solace and joy beneath the waves. He was a skilled craftsman—always creating, fixing, and
building with care and resourcefulness.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen McNamara Trainor; his parents, Peter Celestine Trainor and Mary Dorothea Keavy; his brothers, Robert and Frank Trainor; and his beloved dog, Sandy.
Charlie is survived by his daughters: Colleen Goodno (John) and Shannon Villiers (Peter); his cherished grandchildren: Sean Goodno (Amanda), Meaghan Goodno, Michael Villiers, and Patrick Villiers; and his adored great-grandchildren: Abigail, Emma, and Hannah Goodno. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Beth Collins (Jim), along with many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the many caregivers who loved and cared for him in the later years of his life.
Services to honor Charlie will be shared by his family at a later date.
