Celina L. (Bernard) Foster, 89, of Torrington, joined her husband, Ronald, in Heaven on Wed., January 10, 2024, after a brief illness. Celina was married to Ronald for 47 years, plus 22 years as his widow. She is survived by her 7 children and their spouses: daughter Miriam and Dan Abate, son Jay Sr. and Roberta Foster, son Earl and Catherine Foster, son Carl and his late wife Gail Foster, daughter Roxanne Foster, son Wayne and Lori-Jean Foster, son Stuart and Kathy Foster; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind four sisters, one sister-in-law, and one brother-in-law. Celina was a life-long member of the First Congregational Church of Torrington where she sang for years with the choir; sang with the Sullivan Senior Center Bells & Beau, was a member of the Drakeville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and was involved with many of her Childrens’ activities such scouts and school lunch aide. Celina was an avid crafter working on quilts with the First Congregational Church Four Corner Circle Women’s Group. Celina was an accomplished self-taught artist with pastels and wood carving. An expert at knitting and crocheting, she could alter an Irish sweater pattern in her head. Celina donated many yarn projects to veterans through the Torrington Elks, First Church, and to children in need in Torrington public schools, among others. Donations can be made to the Book of Remembrance at First Congregational Church. A Memorial Service will be held on Sat., January 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM at First Congregational Church of Torrington, 837 Riverside Ave., Torrington.
