Burton E Meyer, Jr

Burton "Biff" E. Meyer, Jr. passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family and best friend after a brief illness.  He was the loving father to Burton "Lad" E. Meyer, III.

 

Born in Torrington on January 21, 1956, Biff is a son of the late Elizabeth and Burton E. Meyer, Sr.  He attended local schools and graduated from Torrington High School in 1973.  He was employed for 40 years at Zeller Tire and Auto Center as a Truck Tire Department Manager.

 

Biff was a quiet, but gregarious man.  In addition to his family, he loved bikes, fast cars, his friends and an afternoon "sit down".  Beside his passion for work in the tire business, he was a successful drag racer and car enthusiast.  His many friends and neighbors knew they could call on him for any favor.  He will be missed by many.

 

Surviving Biff are his beloved son, Burton E. Meyer, III, sister Maurette Wall (Pat) of Harwinton, nephew Mitchell Lenart (Jaime) of Hartsville, SC, aunts Maureen Pace of Morristown, NJ, Rita "Aunt" Zeller (Jim) of Harwinton, Regina Neal of West Hartford, best friend John Birden of Harwinton, and former wife Joann Woodin of Torrington.  He was predeceased by his brother Paul in October 2021.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 5, at St. Francis Church in Torrington.  Burial will follow at New St. Francis Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Phalen Funeral Home.
