Bruno Franconi, 98, of Torrington, passed away Thursday, August 12th, at River Ridge of Avon. He was the husband of Secondina Pezze Franconi. Bruno was born in Torrington, CT on January 18, 1923, a son of the late Sylvia and Valenti Franconi and served in the U.S. Navy Asiatic Pacific Theaters in WW II and Korea Conflict. He served aboard the USS Conner DD-582 and the USS Braxton APA-138. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, 19 Bronze Service Stars, American Theater Medal, Navy Occupational Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Bruno was a master tool and die maker at Hendey Machine, New Departure Ball Bearing Company and Torin. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed travel and daily swims at the Winsted YMCA. In addition to his wife, he leaves sons Bruce and wife Gloria Franconi and their children Joseph and Robin Krupansky and husband Michael, Robert Franconi and wife Theresa and their children Nicholas and Nathan and wife Chenta, daughter Sandra Franconi and Lisa Achee and husband Jeffrey and their children Kyle and Dylan, great grandchildren include Jacob Franconi, Braiden and Christian Krupansky. Bruno also leaves two sisters, Lydia Hayden and Mary Pomillio, and was predeceased by three brothers, Louis Franconi, John Franconi, and Armando Rabelato.
