Obituary

Bruno Robert Arcoma, lifelong resident of Torrington, CT,  was born on November 24, 1923 and passed away peacefully on April 15, 2022.

Bruno was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean Waltos Arcoma and his loving companion of over 10 years, Althea Birden.

Serving our country from 1943 to 1946 as a Petty Officer Third Class on the USS Warren,  Bruno valued his service in the United States Navy. Sailing over 110,000 miles and crossing the equator 16 times, Bruno credited his time of service to our country as the foundation for the remainder of his life and his strong devotion to his family and friends.

Bruno’s family  includes daughter Sally  Ardolino MD, her husband Anthony Ardolino MD, son Peter Arcoma, his wife Regina Arcoma,  grandchildren, Michael and Eric Ardolino, spouses Claire and Hien, Melissa Clark, spouse Stephen, Peter Arcoma and Joseph Arcoma, spouses Lauren and Megan as well as 8 great grandchildren: William, Reid and Luke Arcoma, Anna and Lincoln Arcoma, Charlotte Clark and Jack and Nina Ardolino.

Bruno served as a member of  the Torrington Fire Department extending from 1960 to his retirement as a Lieutenant in 1986 . He was also a member of the Torrington Elks as well as St. Paul’s Lutheran Church .

Well known for his dancing and singing, Bruno would like to be remembered as a good friend, a “ get it done “ person and a provider of basically “ whatever you needed”.

As part of the “ Greatest Generation “ Bruno lived his life based upon integrity, moral and ethical commitment as well as a purveyor of practicality and self-reliance.  If you had carpentry, mechanical, gardening or any random type of problem or issue, Bruno usually had the solution. Bruno was a shining example of Yankee ingenuity and will be missed !

Special thanks is extended by the family to The Workman Senior Living, Wolcott Hall Nursing Center, as well as Hospice Care for their compassionate concern shown to Bruno during his last several months.
