Bruce E Delaini

Bruce Delaini, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on June 3rd, 2023. He was 76. Born in 1946 to the late Egilio and Claire Delaini, Bruce grew up in East Canaan, CT, where he attended Housatonic Valley Regional High School and was an accomplished athlete. He served in the United States Navy from 1965-1969 as an air traffic controller, graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCONN with a bachelor’s in psychology, and later in life obtained his master’s in counseling from Southern Connecticut State University. He retired from the State of Connecticut after 20 years as a chief probation officer, was a substance abuse counselor for the McCall Foundation for 14 years, taught at Westfield State College as an adjunct professor of criminal justice, and was involved with the New Hartford Democratic Committee. He was a rare renaissance man – knowledgeable and well-read, skilled in carpentry and stonework, an avid gardener, and possessed of an illuminating wit. To all who knew him, he was dependable, supportive, and caring. For his family, he was always there when we needed him and his love for us was always evident. He will be greatly missed. Bruce is survived by his wife JoAnn (nee Carbone), his sons Matt and Nick (Dani), his grandchildren Han, Yul, Sol, Claire, Lee, and Clay, as well as by his siblings Eugene (Kim), Jack (Jill), and Ellen.
