Beverlee Moon, of Torrington, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her husband and children on May 15, 2021, and now lives in the loving care, compassion, and company of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Beverlee was born and raised in Illinois, receiving her B.A. degree in Education from Augustana College, and later pursued graduate studies at Southern Connecticut State University.
Bev was honored and recognized for her successful teaching abilities as both a dedicated elementary school teacher and a revered English-as-a Second-Language (ESL) instructor. She taught students, originating from over thirty different foreign countries, utilizing a curriculum that she developed to meet specific student needs. These teaching techniques were valued and used by other ESL teachers. As a teacher, she also willingly taught home-bound children who were challenged by sickness or disability.
As an accomplished musician, she played the piano, flute, and piccolo, performing in her hometown orchestra, bands, and church. She was an avid reader especially enjoying English mysteries.
Beverlee was a beautiful woman, blessed with many life skills, and with compassion, offering assistance, and giving care and concern for others, who welcomed her knowledge and creative abilities. She was a constant support to her husband during his career-long ministry as a Lutheran Pastor, which included teaching Sunday School and Confirmation classes, directing youth choirs and accompanying singing, leading Bible studies, and organizing fellowship gatherings.
Bev's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, relative, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory besides her husband, Rev. Dwaine Moon, are her daughters, Sara Moon, and Amy Lee and her husband Michael, her son David Moon, grandsons Garrett Moon, Bryce Moon, Tyler Lee and his wife Rebekah, and her granddaughter Kristen Cochran and her husband Nick. Also, she leaves behind cousins Barbara Sheperdigian and Priscilla Robinson and her husband Rob, brother in law Darrel Moon and wife Beverly, and several nieces and nephews from the Moon and Bowman families, as well as many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 2, 2021 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Kewanee Illinois. on line memorials www.phalenfuneral.com
