Balder Zimmer

Balder Zimmer, 81, of Harwinton CT, passed from this life peacefully at his home from Pulmonary Fibrosis on May 25 2020. Balder was born in Germany August 24, 1938, the son of Helene (Gartner) Zimmer and Stanley Zimmer. The family immigrated to the USA in 1952. He graduated from Torrington High School and UCONN. He served his country in the US Air Force. Balder worked as a Loss Control Manager and retired as the Risk Manager for the Town of Bloomfield. He was a member of Seneca Lodge in Torrington for over 50 years as well as a member of Cyrus-Meridian RAM and Buel Council R + SM. Balder is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Marlene (Weichholz) Zimmer and his daughter Cara Zimmer Hauser and he will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Erhard and Edward Zimmer. When not active in the community, Balder had a love of photography which he passed on to his daughter. Balder spent many happy years at The Photo Shop in Torrington. A special thank you to Balder's Hospice nurses, Julie and Alicia, for their kindness and for helping Balder on his Journey.
