Theresa was born in West Charleston Vermont on Aug 7, 1929. She grew up on a working dairy farm in Hardwick Vermont Theresa helped with daily chores, haying, as well as delivering the milk cans to the Cabot Co Op. This is where she met her husband Paul who she was married to for 64 years. Theresa played basketball at the Hardwick Academy where she graduated in 1948.
Theresa and her late husband Paul (Shorty ) Compagna moved to Ct in the early 50's making their family home on Migeon Ave. Theresa was devoted to her family, her family was her life. She was proud to be a stay at home Mom and enjoyed sewing clothes for the girls. She was known for baking banana breads, cookies, and donuts on a snowy day. Theresa was a musician’s wife for 64 years, always looking forward to the weekend when his band played. Theresa was one of the original members of the American Folk Music Association in Torrington. Band practice and music could be heard from the family home where all were welcome. Theresa was happy to know that her lifelong love of music has passed on to her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Theresa learned to play piano by ear as a young girl, admitting that got her out of doing the supper dishes. In her early years she shared her gift of singing and playing piano for residents at various nursing homes in the area. For the last 10 years, she made her home at Valerie Manor continuing to entertain the many residents, visitors and staff.
