Steven George Beaudry, 61, of Torrington left this earth Tuesday December 18, to help Saint Joseph improve his carpentry skills. Born September 19, 1957 son of Teresa (Dziedzic) Beaudry and the late Daniel Charles Beaudry, he grew up with 5 brothers and sisters and was always into mischief as a child which also spilled over into adult life earning him the nickname "Beav." He attended Saint Francis School and Torrington High until his Junior year when he felt he needed no further formal education and left school. He did smarten up later and received his GED and went on to attend Hartford Modern School of Welding and worked at Electric Boat in Groton welding submarines. Never without his trademark polka dot welding cap, beard and a cold Budweiser he was a welder extrordinaire and an amazing carpenter, and an avid outdoorsman. He was previously employed by CH Nickerson and RJB Construction companies. Beav cheated death many times until he ended his final dance with illness on his own terms.
In addition to his mother, he leaves his long term companion Judith ( Hurrey) Adkins, a daughter Jessica Hovey and husband Casey and granddaughters Caydance of FL and sons Thomas and Tyler of Torrington. He also leaves a brother David and wife Helen of Norfolk and sisters Roseanne and Christine of Torrington, and Donna and husband George Rubin of Norfolk, stepdaughter Alison Vaser of FL and his "3rd brother" Ward Winegar, 9 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Michael.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday Dec. 20 at 10 AM at Saint Francis Church. Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 5-7 PM at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington. www.phalenfuneral.com
