Stephen Chiappa, 96, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully Friday, June 14th, with his son and daughter-in-law at his side. He was the husband of the late Margaret Ragalye Chiappa.
Stephen was born in Harwinton, CT on October 1, 1922, a son of the late Theresa (Odasso) and Angelo Chiappa. A graduate of Torrington High Class of 1939 and the Trade School, he served in the Merchant Marines in WW II.
He was employed as a machinist for Torrington Mfg. Company and The Torrington Company and was a carpenter and mason.
He is survived by his son Paul Chiappa and his wife Stephanie DeAlessio-Chiappa, and a grandson Bryce DeAlessio and his wife Tyna, and two great-grandsons Stephen and Seth, and several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by the children, John Archer and Jane Perlotto, of his long time companion, the late June Archer. He was predeceased by a son Stephen and a brother Italo.
A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank Joe Sabia and the Staff of Torrington Sash and Door, and the staff and residents at The Workman Home, for their thoughtfulness and consideration.
