Sophie C (Dunay) Carlson

Sophie C. (Dunay) Carlson, 89, a longtime resident of Torrington, CT, and most recently Candlewood Valley Nursing Center, New Milford, CT, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2020.

Born on December 3, 1930 in Stafford Springs, CT, daughter of the late Michael & Catherine (Matava) Dunay, she was predeceased by sisters, Catherine Stevens, Anne Root, and brother, Michael (Mickey) Dunay, and her husband of 50 years, Alfred L. Carlson, and her son, Jon Carlson.

She is survived by her children, Arlene Vander Wert & husband Randy, Linda Ross and husband Steven, Richard Carlson & wife Gail, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Sophie was a master with knitting needles and her work has won awards in the area.  She was a devoted wife and mother who loved Yorkshire Terriers.  She was dearly loved and will always hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends.
