Samuel Langley Obituary

Samuel L Langley, 94, of Torrington, CT, passed away March 22nd, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Mary E. (Hull) Langley.

Samuel was born in Birmingham, AL on February 18, 1924, son of the late Rilla (Vance) and Samuel Langley.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, spending time with family was most important to Sam. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving in many ways. Employed by the Torrington Co. Excelsior Plant for over 34 years as a machine setter, he then went on to work at the First United Methodist Church for several years. Sam was an avid fisherman, hiker, and lover of nature. He volunteered and was a trail manager at Sunnybrook State Park. Sam was also a member of White Memorial Foundation and Connecticut Forest and Park Association.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Judie Ann Pollick of Hudson, FL and Susan (Scott) Avery of Burlington, CT, grandchildren Joseph (Shellie) Pollick, Shannon (Peter) Haynes, Krista (Robert) MacNeill, and Austin and Adam Avery, as well as four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters.

The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and Valerie Manor for their compassion and care.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 28th at Northwest Hills Community Church (formerly Calvary Baptist Church) 342 Prospect St Torrington, CT with burial following at Hillside Cemetery.

Friends may call 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 27th at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington, CT.
