Robert W. Nicholas, 70, of Torrington, CT, passed away on Saturday, June 15th, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Robert was born in Torrington, CT on March 7, 1949, a son of Gertrude (Picz) Nicholas of Torrington and the late William C. Nicholas. Bob was a fixture of the Torrington area, well known for his classic cars, and a devoted “fly boy” with his group of fellow RC plane enthusiasts, who will miss him dearly. He adored his grandchildren and had a zest for life that will not be soon forgotten. Bob loved boating, water and snow skiing, music and flying. He worked throughout Litchfield County at The Torrington Company, Agway Petroleum, Foreman School, and The McCall Foundation, in addition to the custom upholstery work he did as ‘Bob Nicholas Upholstery’ for many years.
Beloved husband to Nancy (Jack) Nicholas, he leaves a son Christopher Nicholas and wife Heather and their children: William and fiance Nina Barone, and Katie Nicholas. He is also survived by his step-children: Amy (Cash) and husband Stephen Sereday, and Lisa (Cash) and husband Andrew Guerrini and their son Holden. Also surviving is a sister, Patricia Mackiewicz, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Billy.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM on Friday, June 21st at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington, with burial following at Hillside Cemetery.
Friends may call 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 20th at the Funeral Home.
