Robert Edward Nevin

Robert E Nevin, 84, of Torrington, passed away Tuesday, April 23rd, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Amelia Cornelio Nevin.

Robert was born in Torrington, CT on May 1, 1934, a son of the late Margaret (Dubiel) and Gordon Nevin. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and later worked as a plumber and pipe fitter for the Torrington Company and Century Brass. An avid swimmer, he was a lifeguard and enjoyed softball and billiards. He enjoyed seeing the world in the driver's seat of his motor home and relaxing at their cottage.

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind 3 daughters, Linda Salamacha, Roberta Albrecht and husband Wayne, and Denise Dileo and husband Daniel, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother, Gordon "Skip" Nevin of FL and was predeceased by a sister Janet Thrall and son-in-law John Salamacha.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 30th at St Thomas Church in Goshen. Burial will follow at Goshen Center Cemetery. Friends may call 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, April 29th at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington. Memorial Contributions can be made to St Jude's Childrens Hospital.
