Richard P Klies, 64, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully Friday, December 14th, with his loving wife and best friend at his side at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after a long battle with Cancer.
Rich was born in Waterbury, CT on July 18, 1954, the son of the late Winifred (Schwenterly)and Walter Klies.
He served in the National Guard and was employed by Curtis Screw, Sheldon Precision for the past 34 years as a machinist. He enjoyed the company of his children and was a very loving, devoted husband and father. His pastimes included fishing, (his favorite) boating, camping, motorcycle riding, and tinkering in the garage. He was a jack of all trades and known for his witty sense of humor.
He is survived by his best friend and wife Kelli Kulinski Klies, sons Richard (Rocky) of Waterbury, Paul of Long Beach, CA, Shane (Harley) of New Milford, Joshua, Robert and Dillon of Torrington and daughter Brianna of Torrington. He also leaves grandchildren Shane Klies of Thomaston, Jenna Klies of Granby, Nacoma Moore and Amara Klies of Torrington, sister Evelyn Campagna of Waterbury and brother Walter Klies Jr. and wife Cindy of Tujunga, CA and twin brother Robert (Peter) Klies and wife Heidi of Goose Creek, SC and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Henry(Hank) and sister Winifred Moulet and former wife Cheryl Johnsky. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Smilow Cancer Center and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to Rich during this trying time.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday Dec. 27th at 10 AM at Center Congregational Church 155 Main St Torrington. Friends may call Wednesday Dec. 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington. Memorial Contributions can be made in his name to Smilow Cancer Center for a much needed wheel chair scale
