Richard C D’Amato (Dick)
August 17, 1942 to June 19, 2019
Richard (Dick) D’Amato, 76, of Torrington passed away Wednesday, June 19th unexpectedly at home. He was the beloved husband of Eva Fadgyas D’Amato.
Dick was born in Torrington, CT on August 17th, a son of the late Freda (Tedesco) and James D’Amato. After graduating Wamogo in 1961, he immediately became a bridge inspector for the State of CT and a volunteer fireman for the Bantam Fire Dept. His passion for firefighting finally became a reality when he became a member of the Torrington Fire Dept, a brotherhood, he always treasured! Dick retired from the TFD in 1998, but was not one to sit around the house. He did many odd jobs, house painting and worked at Home Depot until 2016. He had a love for life, family, friends and that “Tedesco” sense of humor which he passed on to his children.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children, Susan D’Amato, Richard D’Amato and wife Donna, Adam D’Amato, Matthew D’Amato, Rachel D’Amato and soon to be son-in-law Jason Chamis. He was so looking forward to watching his baby girl get married next month.
Also surviving are his sister Joan (D’Amato) Hall of ARK, brother James D’Amato and wife Debbie of CA, his wonderful mother-in-law Eva Fadgyas of Harwinton, favorite aunt Lee Tedesco of Torrington and several cousins who he had the time of his life with every time they were in a room together; and last by not least, his dedicated firefighter family.   He was predeceased by a daughter Robin D’Amato.
.A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday June 29 from 1-4 PM at Chatterly's 371 Pinewoods Rd Torrington.
