Orrin E. Root

 Orrin E. Root, 72, of Torrington, passed away Wednesday, March 15th, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of 49 years to Ruth Foeller Root.
Orrin was born in Torrington, on July 11, 1944, a son of the late Virginia (Tromba)  and Orrin E Root.
He  served in the U.S. Army in  Vietnam during the War.  He was a retired mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Torrington until his retirement in 2005.  He enjoyed wood working and model airplanes,   and  having morning coffee and camping  with his friends, going to grandaughter's recitals and grandson's baseball and basketball games.  He was a member of AMVETS and the VFW.
In addition to his wife,  he leaves two sons,  Christopher O. Root and his children Kassi, C.J., and Erik,  and Brian T. Root and wife Natasha of Torrington,  a brother Robert Root and wife Carol of TN.,  and sister Barbara Williamson and husband Fred of Harwinton  brothers in law George Foeller and wife Bette, John Foeller and wife Bonnie,  sister in laws Marion Newkirk, Patricia Foeller, and Maureen Foeller and several  cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call  6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 20th at Phalen Funeral Home,  Torrington.  Services are at the convenience of the family
