Milda (Sveicers) Lukstins

Milda (Sveicers) Lukstins, 89, of Torrington died Feb 13, 2017. She was born in Belarus, daughter of the late Olga (Novjak) and Zanis Sveicers. She was the wife of the late Janis Lukstins who passed away in 2000. She leaves her son Alfred Lukstins and wife Patricia;  granddaughter Jennifer Lukstins and fiance Agni Sfejzulai;  as well her sister Renate Higgins, and nephews Michael and Peter Higgins, nieces Laurie Szabo. and Christine Higgins,and many cousins.

She came to the United States in 1951 and was employed by the Torrington Company for 40 years until her retirement in 1991. She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed all kinds of needlework, reading and painting still lifes. She especially enjoyed many outings she took with her best friend Fay Bosco. The family would like to thank the staff at Valerie Manor for the excellent care she received for the past three years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday Feb. 20 at 11:30 at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington. Friends may call prior to the service from 10:30-11:30. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
