Margaret L. Demos died peacefully in her home on October 16, 2019, at the age of 99. Born on September 10, 1920, in Housatonic, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Augustine (Riche) and David Ley. She graduated from Searles High School and Berkshire Business School. Margaret held various office positions throughout her career including 30 years at Brunswick Corporation prior to her retirement. Ahead of her time, she championed women’s rights and was an advocate for social justice. She was passionate about education and influenced many lives with her encouragement. She read two newspapers daily and remained current with all political issues. She never missed the UConn Girls’ basketball games. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, George S. Demos, and her two older sisters, Edith Waltos and Helen Airoldi.
She is survived by her daughter, Attorney Margaret A. Demos, and her husband, Judge Willard G.Martin, her granddaughter, Attorney Galya Martin, and several nieces and nephews
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday Oct. 21, 1t 11 AM at Saint Francis Church. Entombment will follow at Saint Peter Mausoleum. on line memorials www.phalenfuneral.com.
